Geometry Solver

Type a question, paste an image, get a step-by-step solution.

How to use the geometry solver

  1. Describe the figure in words with every given measurement, for example "right triangle, legs 6 and 8, find the hypotenuse".

  2. Signed-in users can attach a photo of the problem. The math picture solver shows what it read, and you can correct it before sending.

  3. Read the steps. Each one names the theorem or formula it uses.

What the geometry AI covers

  • Angles: parallel lines, polygons, angle chasing
  • Triangles: the Pythagorean theorem, similarity, congruence, the laws of sines and cosines (more on those with trigonometry AI)
  • Circles: arcs, chords, tangents, sectors
  • Area, perimeter, surface area and volume
  • Coordinate geometry: distance, midpoint, slope, equations of lines and circles
  • Proofs, written as statements with a reason for each

Worked example: find the hypotenuse

A right triangle has legs 6 and 8. By the Pythagorean theorem, c² = 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100.

So c = √100 = 10.

Common mistakes

  • Using the Pythagorean theorem on a triangle that has no right angle.
  • Using the diameter where the formula needs the radius: a circle's area is πr².
  • Mixing degrees and radians.
  • Forgetting units: area is in square units, volume in cubic units.

Questions students ask

Can it read my diagram?

From a photo it reads the text and formulas. If the figure holds numbers the text doesn't mention, such as a marked angle, add them to your message.

Does it draw the figure?

No. Answers are written steps and formulas. It describes the figure in words when that helps.

Do I need an account?

No. You can type or dictate problems without signing in. Signing in with Google or Discord is free; it keeps your chats beyond 3 days and lets you attach a photo, PDF or Word file.
