How to use it
Type the problem as it is written, for example "find the mean and standard deviation of 4, 8, 6, 5, 7". Use ^ for powers and / for fractions.
Read the solution. It comes as numbered steps, each naming the rule it uses, and ends with the final answer.
If a step is unclear, ask about it in your own words, such as "explain step 2". Ask for a similar problem to try one yourself.
What the statistics AI solver covers
- Mean, median, mode, range, variance and standard deviation
- z-scores and the normal distribution
- Confidence intervals
- Hypothesis tests: z, t and chi-square
- Correlation and linear regression
- Binomial and Poisson distributions, with more on chance in the probability solver
Worked example: 4, 8, 6, 5, 7
Mean: (4 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 7) / 5 = 30 / 5 = 6.
Deviations from the mean: −2, 2, 0, −1, 1. Their squares add up to 4 + 4 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 10.
Sample variance: 10 / (5 − 1) = 2.5, so the sample standard deviation is √2.5 ≈ 1.58.
Common mistakes
- Dividing by n for a sample. A sample's variance divides by n − 1.
- Using a one-tailed test when the question is two-tailed.
- Reading "fail to reject H₀" as "H₀ is true".
- Treating correlation as proof of cause.
Questions students ask
Can I paste a data set?
Yes, paste the numbers into the message. Signed-in users can also attach a photo, PDF or Word file with a table, which the math image solver reads.
Does it use z and t tables?
It states the critical value or p-value it uses, so you can compare it with your table.
Do I need an account?
No. You can type or dictate problems without signing in. Signing in with Google or Discord is free; it keeps your chats beyond 3 days and lets you attach a photo, PDF or Word file.
